John Nicolaou is a partner in LCHB’s New York office, with a practice focused on class action cases on behalf of consumers and investors.
He has extensive experience representing medical practices, including cases against electronic health record vendors and insurers. Recently, he represented six medical practices in three consumer class action cases against electronic health record vendor, Greenway Health. After two years of litigation, the cases successfully resolved with a global $26 million settlement on behalf of a class of Greenway’s customers.
John also has significant experience representing consumers in cases about unwanted robo-calls by large companies. One of these matters – Jenkins v. National Grid – recently resulted in a $38 million settlement on behalf of a proposed class. Final approval from the Court is pending.
John has also represented several investors alleging claims for securities fraud or violation of fiduciary duties. Prior to joining LCHB, John was a member of the team representing a class of American International Group (AIG) shareholders in a case concerning the Government’s acquisition of a controlling equity stake in AIG. He was a member of the trial team that won a liability verdict against the Government in the Court of Federal Claims.
John also has significant experience with employment and partnership disputes. He was part of the team that successfully represented attorney Paul Napoli in an arbitration against his former partner Marc Bern regarding a multi-million dollar breach-of-contract claim. John was also a member of the team that defended Pacific Investment Management Company LLC (PIMCO) against a billion-dollar lawsuit by its former Chief Investment Officer, Bill Gross.
