Year: 2005
Goddard, et al. v. Longs Drug Stores Corporation, et al. Employee Overtime Litigation
Store managers and assistant store managers of Longs Drugs charged that the company misclassified them as exempt from overtime wages. Managers regularly worked in excess of 8 hours per day and 40 hours per week without compensation for their overtime hours.
Following mediation, in 2005, Longs Drugs agreed to settle the claims for a total of $11 million. Over 1,000 current and former Longs Drugs managers and assistant managers were eligible for compensation under the settlement, and over 98% of the class submitted claims.
