The Daily Journal (subscription) has published its annual listing of “Top Labor & Employment Lawyers” in California, and this year’s group includes Lieff Cabraser San Francisco Office Managing Partner Kelly M. Dermody for an impressive 11th time. This prestigious accolade celebrates California’s elite attorneys who have made outstanding contributions to their field. Kelly stands out as one of the top 0.05% of lawyers in the state selected for this honor in the area of Employment Law.
The Journal highlights some of Kelly’s most notable recent achievements, including her pivotal role in securing a landmark $215 million settlement against Goldman Sachs for gender discrimination. Representing nearly 3,000 female employees, the case exposed deep, pervasive, systemic issues within the investment banking industry and resulted in one of the largest settlements in employment discrimination history.
In addition, the Journal discusses Kelly’s current work as a leader in multidistrict litigation addressing the health impacts of hair relaxers marketed primarily to Black women, highlighting the intersectionality of racial justice and public health issues.

The Managing Partner of Lieff Cabraser’s San Francisco office, Kelly M. Dermody specializes in class and collective actions on behalf of plaintiffs in civil rights, employment, and consumer cases, including gender discrimination cases against Google and Goldman Sachs. Kelly was also named a 2023 Law360 MVP in the category of Class Action and Employment Law. Additional case work includes wage suppression claims against technology, healthcare, and academic institutions; overtime and lost pay lawsuits for low-wage workers, I/T professionals, and foreign nationals working for American corporations; and ERISA claims that she has tried on behalf of employees and retirees for pension plan abuses.
