Porsche Emissions & Fuel Economy Complaints
On November 9, 2022, U.S. District Judge Charles R. Breyer of the Northern District of California issued an order granting final approval to an $80 million settlement resolving driver claims in an emissions cheating class action filed by Lieff Cabraser against Volkswagen and Porsche. The lawsuit alleged that the automakers manipulated nearly 500,000 gasoline-powered vehicles to overstate their advertised fuel economy and obtain fraudulent emissions certifications in an attempt to make them seem more eco-friendly than they actually were.

The models under investigation are all 2007-2017 Porsche vehicles sold in the United States, including Porsche 911s, Panameras, Boxsters, Cayennes, and Macans.
The allegations are similar to but different than the allegations in the Volkswagen “Clean Diesel” case, which also involved a type of emissions cheating. That case led to an historic $14.7 billion consumer settlement with Volkswagen.
