Last week, Lieff Cabraser Heimann & Bernstein’s Nashville office sponsored the annual gala of the Tennessee Innocence Project (TIP). The sold-out gala raised more than $480,000 for the organization.
Founded in 2019 as Tennessee’s first full-time innocence organization, TIP works to free innocent people wrongfully convicted of crimes they did not commit, to raise awareness of this pressing issue, and to drive policy reforms that prevent future wrongful convictions. Since 2019, TIP has secured seven exonerations.
LCHB’s Nashville office managing partner is a member of TIP’s board of directors.

About TIP
In 2019, a dedicated group of individuals – some of whom were involved with the innocence movement in Tennessee since its beginning – began TIP as a freestanding state-wide non-profit, operating within multiple law schools, law firms, advocacy groups, and other partners in all parts of Tennessee, with the focus on providing the resources, staff, and infrastructure necessary to fight for the innocent.
