Lieff Cabraser partner Wendy R. Fleishman represents one of the plaintiffs in the lawsuits against Dr. Hadden
The New York Times reports that the Manhattan district attorney’s office has announced that it has opened an investigation into new allegations of abuse against NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital gynecologist Robert A. Hadden. The announcement came just a month after the wife of a former 2020 Democratic presidential candidate publicly declared that she, too, was one of Hadden’s victims and amid calls from elected officials and women’s rights groups for Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus R. Vance, Jr. to resign over his handling of previous cases against Hadden.
As recently as fall of 2019, Vance defended his 2016 decision to strike a plea deal on the earlier cases that allowed Hadden, accused of sexually abusing 19 different patients including several pregnant women, to avoid any prison time.
Lieff Cabraser partner Wendy R. Fleishman, who represents one of the plaintiffs in the lawsuits against Dr. Hadden, noted “We are disturbed to learn that Dr. Hadden assaulted far more women than our client knew or was informed about. At the time, the District Attorney was prosecuting the claims of only a handful of women.” She added, “Now that many additional women have come forward, we are convinced far more patients were abused by Dr. Hadden.”
