The National Law Journal (subscription) has named its 2018 Litigation Trailblazers, a list that includes Lieff Cabraser partners Richard M. Heimann and Kelly M. Dermody. Heimann and Dermody are featured in the NLJ’s 2018 Litigation Trailblazers special edition, which discusses their “pioneer spirit,” past successes, and ongoing case work.
The special edition highlights Heimann’s seminal work on the massive and sprawling tobacco litigation, as well as his role as Chair of the firm’s Securities and Financial Fraud practice group, including the Wells Fargo overdraft charge abuses case as well as litigation against BNY Mellon and State Street over improper foreign exchange transactions.
“I am usually the guy they bring in to actually try the cases. I’m sort of the jack-of-all-trades. I’ll keep doing that for the foreseeable future,” stated Heimann.
Profiling Dermody, the Journal focuses on her employment law cases over gender discrimination and the gender pay gap. Dermody’s work has transformed industries and helped change company policies. “Most of my career involves doing a variety of gender discrimination class actions. We’ve done a lot of cases where people were willing to take reputational risks, because otherwise nothing would get fixed,” Dermody said.
Congratulations to both Richard and Kelly on this prestigious recognition!
