2012 Yaz Dangerous Side Effects Update
On April 10, 2012, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced that Bayer AG's Yaz birth-control pill and similar medications may carry a higher risk of blood clots than other pills. The FDA will require new labels for Yaz and Yasmin. The pills all contain the active ingredient drospirenone.
The serious adverse effects of Yaz and Yasmin include blood clots, strokes, and heart attacks. In certain cases, women have died suddenly.
Symptoms of Yaz Side Effects
Patients may experience blood clots that form inside a vein, known as deep vein thrombosis. The clots usually start in the lower leg or thigh. If they break loose, the blood clots can travel to other areas of the body such as the lungs and become life threatening.
