Settlement Reached in Bextra Product Liability Litigation
October 17, 2008
The parties announced today that a settlement has been reached in the Coordinated Federal and State litigation arising out of Pfizer's sale and marketing of the since-withdrawn COX-2 inhibitor Bextra.
The settlement includes $745 million to resolve personal injury litigation, $89 million to resolve consumer fraud class action claims, and $60 million to resolve fraudulent promotional practice claims brought by states and the District of Columbia.
"The settlement of injury and consumer claims is wonderful news for thousands of victims and their families," stated Plaintiffs' Liaison Counsel Elizabeth J. Cabraser.
