Android Privacy Complaint: Carrier IQ Tracking Software and HTC, Samsung, Sprint, AT&T, and T-Mobile Smart Phones

Lieff Cabraser is investigating claims that Android smartphone manufacturers and cellular carriers created an illegal wiretap by integrating software called Carrier IQ into the Android operating system. The software was installed in order to track users' keystrokes, apps, text messages, photos, videos, and more, while hiding the software and making it impossible to remove.

This software appears to record and transmit private information to Carrier IQ and cellular carriers, including information transmitted through the secure HTTPS internet protocol, which is used for e-commerce and other sensitive information such as bank passwords.

Carrier IQ is installed on many Android smartphones and on over 140 million mobile devices worldwide.
